Nigeria at Sixty (60)

They said it’s sixty years already

When our motherland was released from the bondage of the white men
Sixty years when we were given the freedom to think with our cerebrum.

It is sixty years already
Since our motherland
“The giant of Africa”
Was expected to be swimming in the ocean of prosperity.

But was rather preyed by the incisor of poverty
From her tears , her children wine
And laughed at her agonies and miseries.

It is sixty years already
When our forefathers sacrificed their souls
For our motherland to rise to her glory dancing above the sun.

But rather crawl like a limbless snail
Our patriotic fathers: MKO Abiola, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Nmadi Azikiwe
Alas this is not their dreamt Nigeria.

For axe of hatred and selfishness have divided us
We live as Nigeria, Oduduwa and Biafra
We poisoned love to death and let hatred live.

It is time to let the blood of unity flow in us
And enliven the spirit of the dying patriotism in us
For we shall get to our dream land.

A dream land where love will reign
And honey will flows in our doorsteps
Our motherland will be great again.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

I pray we see this good days, a day Nigeria would be a country and a nation regarded as the giant of Africa.
